The Annual Meeting of Unity Active Members is called primarily for the purpose of electing the Trustees to fill vacancies on the Board for the terms of 2018-2020. Trustees will be elected from the Active Members who have submitted applications to the Nominating Committee, and who the Nominating Committee has determined are qualified.

The Nominating Committee is pleased to announce the Candidates running for the Board of Trustees are Carl Branch, Peter Cannella, Eric Kugelman, and John Scothorn.

Carl Branch

Carl Branch joined Unity Chicago in 2005, under the leadership of Rev. Erica Trantham. He was a board of director’s member for Test Positive Aware Network (Chicago HIV/AIDS service organization) and is very excited to join Unity’s Board of Trustees. Carl is the founder and president of Midwest Clinical Monitoring Services, Inc., and has been a Sr. Clinical Research Consultant in the pharmaceutical/biotech/medical device industry for the past twenty years. Carl holds a Bachelors of Arts (Piano Performance) from Roosevelt University (Chicago). Additionally, Carl has post-graduate credits at Governor’s State University (University Park, IL) and holds a Clinical Research Auditing Certificate from Northwestern University (Chicago, IL).

 

Peter Cannella

Peter has served on the current BOT for the last 2 years and has served as Treasurer over the past year. Prior to retirement in 2017 Peter worked for over 35 years in Clinical Cardiology as an Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist with over 20 of those years in a Management as Director of Cardiovascular Services at UI Health in Chicago.

 

 

 

Eric Kugelman

Eric has been a member of Unity Chicago for 6 years, has two children, and is a successful business owner for over 20 years. He has served on several boards, mostly in the LGBT community. Eric has been very active in the Fall Gala, the Marketing Committee and the Welcome Team. Eric finds that welcoming new congregants is highly rewarding. He is looking forward to applying his expertise in the success of his business to help Unity Chicago in future growth.

 

 

John Scothorn

John is finishing his first term on Unity’s Board of Trustees and currently serves as its President. He has been attending Unity since 2005 and became a member in 2014. Outside of Unity, John is Executive Director at J.P.Morgan where he manages a nationwide portfolio of over $1.6 billion of investments in affordable housing. John is excited to continue his service to Unity with a second term on the Board.
